Pure WheelPure WheelThere something about a white sky that I like about photos. Perhaps is the way I was taught how to use negative space in architecture to affect moods. That puts in in good stead to start applying it in photography. It is always in the back of a photographers mind when they are composing. The more you do it the less you have to think about what you are doing. It just sort of becomes natural to you. I am not sure where I am on that scale but I like to think that it is nearly natural. But if you stop thinking about composition, then what will happen?

And now for something completely different

As you may know I am not one for macro photography. So much so that I received a challenged from another photographer in the Arcanum to shoot macro shots to put me out of my comfort zone. Shooting macro if fun but very frustrating at the same time. I was trying to create compositions that would normally work on a larger scale in architectural and landscape shots but sometime that just didn’t work. I ended up having to think about simple objects in a complex way and think of compositions that would concentrate on finding the large beauty in small subjects.

I do think I was slightly hindered by the lens. My focal distance was about 2 foot so I relied a lot of photoshops enlarge tools to actually make something of the images. I think you cant skimp on a macro lens if you are going to concentrate on macro.
