Happy Jubilee friday everyone. If you didn’t know that it was the Queen’s diamond jubilee this weekend then, well, where have you been hiding. Of course for us in the UK it means a 4 day weekend!!!! I am using this time to get out of London and the mayhem that will ensue. In a way its a run for what traffic will be like during the olympics so i’m not waiting around to find out.

I can’t remember where exactly this was taken. I know it was on a photo walk from waterloo to Tower bridge so it must be somewhere on the south bank. Other then that I have no clue. Perhaps some of you will know.

Beachside bridge

This is the only stretch of beach that I have been on around the Thames (apart from a runway into the thames in greenwich here). Although I have been on it quite a few times, I never got one that I liked taken from under the piers. There was enough light (just) on this night for it to work without any torch light. I did try it with it but it just didn’t look as good.

Welcome to Primrose Hill

There is a point next to Regents Park that I had never been to. Yo have to be quite fit to lug up a heavy camera bag to the top of Primrose Hill but its worth it. You can see most of London from up there. Its a popular point for couples as you can imagine but we disturbed their peaceful time with loud camera shutters.

I took a few photos from up here all without a tripod so had to do HDRs from 1 exposure as Photomatix was having a hard job of aligning them. I still think it get s good result though. You can see the tall BT tower in the centre next to the London Eye. If you look close enough you can also see the Houses of Parliament to the right of this, dwarfed by the tall cranes of London that are all too familiar.

Camden Lock

I finally was able to process some new pictures last night. I thin managing to process 5 in 2 hours is pretty good going. It reminded me of how much I find it relaxing and enjoy it. This was one of them, although it was probably the quickest to process as it was taken during the day. Night images sometimes give a lot of processing issues.

I don’t think that I have ever posted one of Camden locks before. I could be wrong. I’m sure a quick search on here would show me but it would of been posted before I actually knew what I was doing. It was pointed out to me by John that the line and dent marks in the stone were made when the ropes would wear away the brickwork when horses pulled the barges. He is full of information.

Through the Curtains

This is a place that we haven’t visited in a while. That’ll be because I didn’t take many photos while I was there. This was due to the fact that I only had 2 hours off and food was my number 1 priority. Hence why this photo was taken while I was in a very nice Italian restaurant. This is why I didn’t see much in Grand Caymen but the weather now in London reminds me of this place. The sky looks exactly the same and I have the exact same red glow of sunburn on my arms and face. I never learn my lesson with sun cream.

And yes that is the ship that I was on.

Exit to the Parc

There are many exits to Parc Guell in Barcelona and this is one of them. I chose to post one of Barcelona today as on the way to work I read that London is currently hotter then Barcelona. Superb apart from the fact that I will be stuck in an office. The good thing about fridays is that we get to finish early so will be out (and probably in a pub garden) at 4.

You have to Love London in the sun. Everyone is in such a good mood. The bad thing is getting home on the rammed trains when the AC doesn’t work. I am waiting for the first person to faint, which happens a lot, so I can put my new founded first aid skills to the test once again.

I hope its nice where ever you are reading this. If not then I’m sorry. Summer will come soon.

Magical Mount

I’ve been talking about Disney to a lot of people recently. I’ve also been processing a lot for a mini project that I am working on. Its a shame that many won’t be posted on here but you will see them all at some point.

This one of Disney’s Island, Castaway was processed soon after I got back. I can’t believe that it was almost 9 months ago. I guess a lot has happened since including my processing technique chaining that perhaps you can notice in this.

Concourse Columns

I did say that I couldn’t help it. If you remember, a few weeks ago I had a week dedicated to King’s cross station as I loved the architecture in it so much. I posted a lot of pictures of the station then but knew that I would still post more. I have another that I might post tomorrow. I can’t help it i’m addicted to the place.

This shows one of the tree columns that link up to the new concourse roof. The are an infinite number of angles to shoot this place.

Mayor’s Art

Back to the strange shaped building for todays post. Still the home (well office although I would love to live there) of Boris . If you have been in a cave recently or live nowhere around London or the UK then you might not know that Boris Johnson was re-elected as London’s Mayor.

Anyway, this was taken at the time when this area was being used as a photography exhibition. You can see all the displays by the river. It was impressive at the time although I now can’t remember what it was about (it was taken a while ago).

Paradise and the rocks
