Think James Photo | The Road to the Massai
Pure WheelPure WheelThere something about a white sky that I like about photos. Perhaps is the way I was taught how to use negative space in architecture to affect moods. That puts in in good stead to start applying it in photography. It is always in the back of a photographers mind when they are composing. The more you do it the less you have to think about what you are doing. It just sort of becomes natural to you. I am not sure where I am on that scale but I like to think that it is nearly natural. But if you stop thinking about composition, then what will happen?

The Road to the Massai

There is a very long road that links the Massai Mara to Nairobi. The very beginning of this goes through some of the Massai Villages that litter the side of the road. Talking about litter… the Massai tribes leave a wake of rubbish behind them as they move around the land. As you drive down this long road, plastic bags act like tumble weeds and rubbish bags as rocks at the side of the roads. They seem to be destroying the landscape as they move into the modern world. I hope this is only a small few of them that are ruining it for the rest otherwise it’s a bad situation.

I shot this as we were driving past two Massai warriors on the way to Nairobi. Shot at a fairly quick shutter speed due to the unevenness of the road. It’s hard to get any photos out of a jeep window.
